Since then, this watch has been available in a large number of versions, but the most legendary is the one equipped with Caliber 11 (automatic / 40 h power reserve) with its pushers located at 2 and 4 o’clock, its crown at 9 o’clock, its Silver counters at 9 and 3 o’clock and its date window at 6 o’clock.
For the jubilee of this chrono, TAG Heuer unveiled the first of five new collector’s timepieces inspired by the original Monaco. In fact, five variations of this model will be presented throughout 2019.
Watch case
This 169-piece limited series has just been unveiled as a preview of the Monaco Grand Prix. It features a polished satin-finished 39 mm steel case, featuring on its beautiful khaki-green dial, here enhanced with brown and yellow touches, as well as a Côtes de Genève finish. Note the presence of rectangular indexes placed horizontally and covered with Superluminova just like the hands elsewhere. The whole being protected by the presence of a domed sapphire crystal.
The solid back of this 1970s-inspired timepiece bears the original “Monaco Heuer” logo, as well as the words “1969-1979 Special Edition” and “One of 169”, a bit of a shame, for such a limited series, the brand could have numbered each copy!
The strap
At the heart of the case, the famous Caliber 11 comes to life, a modern version of the self-winding chronograph movement launched with the original 1969 Monaco. The set is presented on a brown leather strap with holes completed by a light brown lining. .
